An adult family home (AFH) is a licensed residential care setting in a private house, serving a small number of residents — in our case, a maximum of four. Unlike assisted living facilities or nursing homes, AFHs provide personalized care in a genuine home environment. We are licensed and regulated by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).
Adult family home care is typically private-pay. Some long-term care insurance policies cover AFH costs — we recommend contacting your insurer to confirm. Medicaid (through Washington's ALTSA program) may also cover qualifying residents. We're happy to discuss costs in detail during a conversation — every situation is different, and we'll be straightforward with you.
The best way is to visit. We invite you to walk through our home, meet our staff, and ask every question you have. We'll also be honest with you if we feel our setting isn't the right match for your loved one's needs — we'd rather help you find the right fit than take on care we can't provide well.
There are no formal visiting hours. This is your loved one's home — family is always welcome. We simply ask that you call ahead for evening or early-morning visits so we can make sure the timing works well for your loved one.
We maintain a maximum of four residents and do have periods of availability. Because placements at our home tend to be filled through referrals and word of mouth, we recommend reaching out sooner rather than later.
